One such man, Mr Johann Leprich from Trannsylvania, has been locked up for 23 months now. He has
lived in this country since 1952. He came here seeking a better life. He married in 1953,worked hard, and took
care of his family. He is the dearest, kindest, sweetest gentle man I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Each
time I see him walking slowly towards me he has a smile on his face. He always says thank you and God bless you for any kindness
shown him. His wife drives 2-3 hrs every week to see him. She leaves crying and he goes back to his cell crying.
There has only been one blight in this man's life. When he was 16 in 1943, the German Army stormed throughTrannsylvania
capturing and killing. He was forced into the german army and stood guard outside the walls of a concentration
camp. He did this to stay alive. If he did not do what he was told him and his family would be killed. As a young teenager,
he was frightened and did what he was told ,as many did in nazi occupied countries. He never killed anyone, and came away
from Europe looking for a new country. I"m sure that many here in this country would do the same to stay alive.
Here it is 60 years later and he is being condemned for what he had to do. As I understand it, he has never been
back to Trannsylvania and does not ever want to go back. Which doesn't matter, since because of political games, Trannsylvania
does not want him, actually no country wants him. He is literally countryless and homeless. His citizenship was taken away
from him and he might just spend his remaining days in jail. They fear he is a flight risk.AT 79!!!!!All of a sudden in 1985
a letter came and his citizenship was taken away from him. At this time he was in his 60;s. Since then he has been
persecuted, robbed of his freedom and his life with his family. He was exonerated of any war crimes by the court. In
2002 12 men stormed his house and frightened him and his wife. He must have been reminded of the german army
in 1943. They put him in jail where he has been ever since.
He will be 80 years old this year. Him and his family have suffered
at the hands of our government and immigration now since 1985. That's 20 years! In the past 23 monthst
he has had many health problems. Diabetes, high blood pressure, his hearing and eye sight are iminishing. His wife has been
diagnosed with cancer and has a bad heart, and he cannot be there for her. They should be together caring for each
other. Their golden years have turned into torment years. How much more can our country make 2 elderly people suffer.
This in a country who claims to care for children, widows, and the elderly. Let this man go home to his family.
Whenever I see him I give him a hug. It's the only time now in 23 months that this man has felt a human touch.
His family cannot touch him through a glass partition. Our country should be ashamed of this kind of atrocities.
